Lots of small town police agencies around here have a bad reputation and I was expecting the worst but pleasantly surprised. Thank you for educating an ignorant citizen instead of just ticketing them. I do appreciate this and hope this makes its way back to the boss/supervisor so this officer gets a pat on the back and/or a raise. This happened on 8-13-2011 and I don't know the exact time but it was probably around 5:00 PM or so if you can figure out which officer this was. I was the guy in the white Ford truck.
I wanted to thank the Newburg officer that stopped me after I loaded up kayaks into my truck after a beautiful day on the Little Piney today. He warned/informed me that I had gotten too close to the river and the laws related to vehicles being near the river. He was courteous and informed me of the law in a professional manner and didn't just give out a ticket at the drop of a hat.
I by no means want to harm, pollute, or litter the river and love the scenic beauty of the Ozarks. I was simply ignorant to the law. That pickup definitely left with more trash in the bed that it came with as we picked up some trash from the river as we floated along. I was somewhat worried about leaving my truck parked at that location and appreciate the efforts of law enforcement patrolling the area.
